The holidays are a wonderful time of year in many ways, but they also bring many temptations, one of those being the abundance of delicious food that is often loaded with refined carbohydrates and sugars. As I am learning more about the sugar-fungus connection, I can see the importance of avoiding sugar and refined carbs as much as possible. Fungi are parasites of man. They should not be inside the human body, but they have several ways to enter, including the skin, the lungs, and the food we consume. Certain types of fungi make a poisonous substance known as a “mycotoxin.” Mycotoxins are involved in many human diseases including liver cancer. There are two ways to eliminate fungi; killing them with prescriptive or natural antifungals (garlic and oil of oregano, for example), and/or starving them by cutting off their main food supply: sugar. Fungi need carbohydrates to survive. A fungal disease may be diagnosed as chronic sinusitis or high cholesterol levels, but very few doctors realize the fungus link to those health issues. What if starving fungus would help reverse the symptoms of the many chronic health problems Americans tend to suffer?

Hooray for friends! Our good friends Josh and Nancy recently hosted a formal Christmas party at their home. We all dressed up (even Eric and Calla!) and enjoyed lots of good food and fun. Calla wore her new dress that was a gift from her Uncle Daniel and Auntie Brit! Isn’t she beautiful?
We ended up staying out until 10:30, with Calla going strong the entire night. What a little party animal!

I have lately been reading through 1 John, and came across this amazing commentary passage by Matthew Henry:
(1 John 1:1-4)
“The mystery of the Christian religion is directly calculated for the joy of mortals. It should be joy to us that the eternal Son should come to seek and save us, that he has made a full atonement for our sins, that he has conquered sin and death and hell, that he lives as our Intercessor and Advocate with the Father, and that he will come again to perfect and glorify his persevering believers. And therefore those live beneath the use and end of the Christian revelation who are not filled with spiritual joy. Believers should rejoice in their happy relation to God, as his sons and heirs, his beloved and adopted,—in their happy relation to the Son of the Father, as being members of his beloved body, and coheirs with himself,—in the pardon of their sins, the sanctification of their natures, the adoption of their persons, and the prospect of grace and glory that will be revealed at the return of their Lord and head from heaven. Were they confirmed in their holy faith, how would they rejoice!”
Lord, that I may have this true joy as I seek You and remember from whence I came!
