When a house of eleven begins to show signs of sickness, some preventative and defensive measures are in order. In addition to lots of liquids, oil of oregano, vitamin C and some herbal tinctures, we’ve been sipping on ginger-lemon tea for an extra immune system boost.
I grate a 2-inch piece of fresh ginger into a cup, add the juice of one small lemon, then pour in boiling water. Just a tablespoon or two of honey makes the tea palatable and soothes the throat as well.

The warming effect of ginger combined with vitamin C-loaded lemon produces a powerful beverage for cold and flu season. Honey has also been shown to have some anti-bacterial properties, so sweetening is a good thing in this case.

What do you do to boost your immune system during cold and flu seasons?

Earl has a new friend. They’re about the same size. Friend purrs, hisses and meows, just like Earl.

They do everything together.

Earl doesn’t realize that Friend is a pretend kitty. Or maybe he just doesn’t care.

TEN MONTHS OLD! Didn’t he just turn nine months, like, yesterday? And six months the day before??
In just two short months from now, this meaty munchkin will likely be walking and maybe even saying a few intelligible words, but for the moment I’m enjoying his baby-ness as much as I possibly can.

He’s pulling up on everything he can reach now and taking a step or two while holding on…

He’s learned to climb stairs in the last few days, but fortunately he’s still pretty slow at it…

We love this sweet boy sooooo much!

I suppose this is what happens when you live with a houseful of girls…

Good thing Eric’s such a good sport…

Truth be told, he’s loving it…

I have been informed by my dear husband that I look pregnant in the middle picture of the previous post. Just to clarify…
I’m not.
Although I wouldn’t mind that at all.
I mean, who wouldn’t want another one of these?

But I’m not.

Over the weekend we paid a visit to Denver’s Bass Pro Shops. Besides the fact that the animals weren’t moving, it was almost as good as a trip to the zoo.
Calla was wearing her sweet Vintage Bird pants from the Etsy giveaway I won recently at 4 little men & girly twins. Toooooo cute!

Calla’s favorite part of the (giGANntic) store was the aquarium with the largest catfish we’d ever seen.

Denver’s Bass Pro is home to the international record-holding moose rack!

Yep, she actually gave the raccoon a kiss. Is that unsanitary?

We were just a tiny speck in the vastness that is Bass Pro Shops…

We took our second annual “aspen drive” earlier this week, from Divide to Cripple Creek to Florissant and back. We stopped at an aspen grove next to the Florissant Pioneer Cemetery for a few pictures and ended up with a full-blown photo shoot (with Eric behind the camera).

We attempted SEVERAL times to catch a good shot of all of us, possibly for a potential Christmas card…but this was the best we could get…

Calla is getting better and better at posing for pictures. She cracks me up.

If you ever get a chance to see the aspens changing in the fall, DO IT. It’s amazing. I love these reminders of God’s beauty and glory in creation.

After a whirlwind weekend of packing, loading, moving, and unloading…we’re now settled in with our sweet friends who have graciously opened their home to us. We’ll be here for a few weeks while we wait for our housing situation to get squared away.
Here are a few pics from moving day:
My big un-helper…

Our canine/feline duo relaxing in the pickup bed…

Noodle-eating girl in the U-Haul…

Whew. It’s nice having a chance to rest for a few weeks before moving into our new place. In the meantime, we’ll keep you updated on our life with the Dane Seven. So far it’s been a blast!
